Erotic Korean period drama “The Treacherous” will be released in France through indie distributor Pretty Pictures. The company acquired Swiss pay-TV rights. The sales were handled by Korean sales company Finecut, which is representing Cannes’ Un Certain Regard film “Madonna” by Shin Su-won.
Prior to Cannes, Finecut sold “The Royal Tailor” to a slew of distributors. The romantic period drama was sold to Turkey (Sinema TV), Thailand (Coral Culture Contents) and the Philippines (Viva Entertainment) in addition to its previous deals to Japan (the KlockWorx), Taiwan (AV Jet), China (Lemon Tree Media Co.) and for airlines (Emphasis).
Its film “Fashion King” was sold to Viva Entertainment for the Philippines. Other recent titles “Haemoo” and “Chronicle of a Blood Merchant” were sold to Thailand’s Coral.
At Cannes, Finecut is holding buyer-only screenings of zombie animation film “Seoul Station,” and Kim Ki-duk’s upcoming title “Stop.” Both films are in post-production.
Buyers will also get a first market taste of “Snowy Road,” a drama that reflects the present-day pains of so-called comfort women (wartime sex slaves); “Eyelids” by Omeul; “Fourth Place,” a coming-of-age story by Jung Ji-woo; and the dramatic thriller “Circle of Atonement.”
