Fox 2000 has tapped “Pitch Perfect” director Jason Moore to helm “Hair Wars,” based on a pitch from “Fresh Off the Boat” creator and showrunner Nahnatchka Khan.
Fox 2000 won a bidding war for the project, which will be written by Khan and is based on a competition in which hair salons compete through song and dance numbers.
Moore made his directorial debut with “Pitch Perfect,” which starred Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson and grossed $115 million worldwide. That success has led to a pair of sequels.
Moore also directed last year’s “Sisters,” starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. That comedy grossed $87 million domestically and $105 million worldwide.
Khan’s “Fresh Off the Boat” has been renewed for a third season by ABC. It centers on a Taiwanese family living in the U.S. in the ’90s and stars Randall Park and Constance Wu.
Khan also created comedy “Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23.” She’s repped by WME.
Moore is repped by WME and LBI Entertainment.
