An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP elect married to a number of wives has expressed his displeasure at the new SRC structure regarding legislators' salaries and allowances.

Budalangi MP elect Raphael Wanjala was shocked to learn that he can only get a medical cover for one of his wives.

Speaking to the Standard on Wednesday, August 30, Wanjala expressed his dismay at the latest development.

"What will some of us with more than one wife do? It is unfair of parliament to cater for one spouse in the medical insurance for MPs. It should have remained as it was in the past, when we were allowed to give the details of two wives and five children," Wanjala said as quoted by the paper.

The new structure allows MPs to provide details of one wife and five children aged under 25 years.

SRC has also proposed a slash on the MPs' salaries, a move that has caused major heat in the country.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and the opposition NASA have said they support SRC move.

Wanjala was MP for Budalangi when he lost to Ababu Namwamba in 2007. He made a comeback by trouncing Namwamba in the August 8 polls.

One of the women Wanjala is remembered to have been seen in public with and whom he admitted was his wife was Joyce Akinyi.

Akinyi was also married to Nigerian suspected drug lord Anthony Chinedu who was later deported by the government of Kenya.

Akinyi and Chinedu once fought viciously in public over control of the property they owned.
